Quotes From 2013

Every year, at the beginning of the year, I send out 'quotable quotes' that I've either heard or read during the previous year. These are the quotes from 2013. You may have heard some of them but, I'm sure, not all of them. Hope you enjoy.

On February 14, 1963, I took an oath when I enlisted in the United States Air Force. The same oath that all members of the military and National Guard, police and elected government officials take in one way or another. When I was discharged, I was never informed that that oath didn't apply anymore. I've never heard of it not applying anymore to any that have taken that oath during or after they no longer were engaged in the work that led them to taking it. The only way it could ever not apply anymore is if the person who took it refuses to adhere to it.

That oath was not to any one man or woman, but to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I would bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I took the obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I would well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I was about to enter; So help me God.

When I left the military, I only left to take on another office, that of a civilian, a patriotic American citizen. I have never renounced that oath and never will. Any who attempt to force me to renounce it will be separated from the double-helix. - CAH

"Treat all guns as if they are loaded. The only true safety on a firearm is the one between your ears. Never pull a gun unless you are prepared to pull the trigger. Know what is behind your target. These are by no means the only rules of gun safety, but they are repeated over and over by anyone who knows anything about firearms to novices and old-timers alike. In the heat of battle, though, they can be forgotten by even the most skilled and combat-hardened veteran." - David C. Waldron "Dark Grid"

In order to have peace both sides must want it equally. One side cannot make peace; they can only surrender. There are hundreds of cases in history where one side had agreed to lay down their arms if allowed to leave peacefully. In every case known, the ones who surrendered their arms were promptly massacred. - Ward McQueen

"If you can't feel accountable to someone in your life, or to your God, then you need to develop accountability to yourself. You need to look at yourself in the mirror every morning and say, 'I was a good person yesterday, ' and if you can't say that, then find the person you behaved badly toward and make amends. "The way things are going, there will be a day in the not too distant future when 'Civilization' as we know it will collapse. When that happens, every outlaw, and even decent people are going to go crazy. They are going to go crazy because everything has changed now. Food is not going to be delivered to stores, and people are going to get hungry. When people get hungry, they will stop obeying the laws we lived by until today. They will become killers and worse. They will lose the values that make an orderly society. The very things that make it possible to have large cities and a population that doesn't have to grow its own food. If they, the ones who revert to savagery get these guns, then they may make it impossible to rebuild into a civilization having the ability to grow food in one place and transport it to another. That is just one of the things we are going to have to guard against. We will also have to guard against animals who will revert to their wild state. Dogs will become something to fear because instead of being providers of the food made in huge factories, we will become the food they will eat to survive. Because man without the capacity to build weapons with which to defend himself will become the prey of any animal who is faster, stronger or just hungrier. " - Dr. T. D'Manne, "The Coming Night"
